This series contains records that document the Burpee firm's field operations to breed and trial plants for the seed trade as well as acquire stock from other seed companies. Many of the records chart operations at Fordhook Farms, Burpee's base of field operations in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. There are also breeding records for dogs dating from the firm's earliest days when it sold dogs and poultry in addition to seeds.
