Caption on verso reads: "Hand-Loom Weavers. The picture shows the primitive method pursued by the Arab women for the weaving of cloth. This is not done by means of a loom or even a shuttle, but the warp is strung on beams, and the weft is passed through, patiently and slowly, from one woman to another, till sufficient coarse cloth is woven to form a length for a burnouse''.
