This accession consists of Twitter posts, known as tweets, using the hashtag #SIShowdown, as they existed on August 25, 2015. The hashtag was associated with the "Smithsonian
Summer Showdown" web-based competition for which many of the museums, research centers, and zoo chose one "seriously amazing" item, experience, or piece of knowledge to be
voted upon by the public. The competition ran between August 6 and August 24, 2015. Throughout the competition, many of the Smithsonian Institution's Twitter accounts were
used to promote the competition and encourage votes for particular items. This accession includes both tweets from official Smithsonian accounts and tweets from other institutions
and the general public. Materials are in electronic format.
This accession consists of a website, crawled April 6, 2015, maintained by the Office of Advancement to host quizzes. Quizzes are occasionally changed. Due to the structure
of the website, not all of the quiz questions and answers may be included in this accession. Materials are in electronic format.
This accession consists of the "America's Family Album" as it existed on February 10, 2014. The website allowed the public to upload vintage and modern family snapshots
of the Smithsonian Institution for possible use in a future exhibit. The images were also made available for browsing on the website. Contributors were eligible to participate
in a random drawing for a voyage with Smithsonian Journeys. The website began accepting submissions in May 2013 and stopped in April 2014. Submissions made after September
3, 2013 were not eligible for the drawing. Due to technical difficulties, images are not accompanied by captions, contributor names, or other metadata. Materials are in electronic
format.
This accession consists of two websites maintained by the Smithsonian Women's Committee. The Smithsonian Craft2Wear website and the Smithsonian Craft Show website,
both crawled on January 7, 2014, publicize the committee's two annual juried craft show fund raisers. Materials are in electronic format.
