Scope and Contents:
The Jonathan Oakleaf photograph albums relating to Josh Simpson's Megaplanet was compiled by glass collector Jonathan Oakleaf and dates from 2005-2006. Photographs in three albums document glass artist Josh Simpson's work in his Shelburne, Massachusetts studio to create Megaplanet, a 100-pound paperweight, commissioned by the Corning Museum of Glass. The work was completed in 2006.
Biographical / Historical:
Jonathan Oakleaf is an art collector in Collinsville, Connecticut who collects the work of glass artist Josh Simpson (1949- ). Simpson is known for his large solid, blown-glass spheres called "Megaplanets." The work for the Corning Museum of Glass was the 1,000th paperweight added to the Museum's collection.
Provenance:
The collection was donated in 2019 and in 2021 by Jonathan Oakleaf.

This collection is open for research. Access to original papers requires an appointment and is limited to the Archives' Washington, D.C. Research Center.
