The folder includes a worksheet, a photocopy of the image, and a biographical sketch of Truman Handy Newberry.
General:
This garden in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, belonged to Mr. and Mrs. Truman Handy Newberry. Newberry was a businessman and political figure who served as Secretary of the Navy in 1908-1909 and was a U. S. Senator between 1919 and 1922. The house and garden are no longer extant, although the street name Newberry Place commemorates their site.
Persons and firms associated with the property include: Mr. and Mrs. Truman Handy Newberry (former owners, 1914-c. 1945) and Lewis & Valentine Nurseries (nurserymen).
