This accession consists of records documenting updates to the "Black Wings" exhibition at the National Air and Space Museum as well as educational outreach, publications,
research, special events, and other activities pertaining to groundbreaking African American aviators. The "Black Wings" exhibition opened in 1982 in the Pioneers of Flight
Gallery and initially focused on the Tuskegee Airmen. The exhibition was periodically updated and its content broadened. A traveling version of the exhibit, which began touring
in 2011, was developed in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. These records were created and maintained by a number of curators over
time, including Cathleen Lewis, Space History Division, and Von Hardesty and Peter L. Jakab, Aeronautics Division. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, proposals,
scripts, clippings, event announcements, lecture notes, visitor comment forms, agreements, and related materials.
This accession consists of the National Air and Space Museum website as it existed on April 9, 2019, and again on July 20, 2019. The April crawl reflects the early
stages of a 10-year renovation and revitalization of the museum and how it affects the visitor experience. The July crawl reflects special events surrounding the 50th anniversary
of the Apollo 11 moon landing. In general, the website consists of information about the museum, including its Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, and its exhibitions, collections,
staff, research, programs, and events. It also includes online exhibitions and educational resources. Detailed collection information is not included in this accession. Due
to technical issues, some content may be missing or not function as expected. Materials are in electronic format.

This accession consists of correspondence, memoranda, meeting agenda and notes, exhibition proposals and research, and program development records which were created
by military historian Gregg Herken, Chairman of the Department of Space History, National Air and Space Museum.
This accession consists of photographs of National Air and Space Museum (NASM) facilities, office spaces, and exhibitions, including the Paul E. Garber Preservation,
Restoration, and Storage Facility. Materials include prints and contact sheets.
This accession consists of approximately 473 tweets using the hashtag "#SnapTheSuit." In 2019, the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) distributed 15 statues of Neil
Armstrong's spacesuit to baseball stadiums and encouraged the public to post pictures of themselves with the statue using the "#SnapTheSuit" hashtag. The hashtag was also
used by the museum and by NASM Director Ellen Stofan (via her personal Twitter account) to promote both the statues and the original spacesuit on display at NASM. Twitter
is a microblogging platform and its posts are known as "tweets." Tweets using this hashtag were exported into a spreadsheet between May 30, 2019, and January 10, 2020. Due
to technical issues, some tweets may be truncated. The hashtag "#ApolloAtThePark" is also frequently found in this accession. It was primarily used by the ballparks in relation
to a larger celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. This accession only includes tweets using the "#ApolloAtThePark" hashtag when it appears
in the same tweet as "#SnapTheSuit." Materials are in electronic format.
