This accession consists of records documenting the creation of the website, "Whole Cloth: Discovering Science and Technology Through American History." "Whole Cloth"
was created by the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT) with the support of the National Science Foundation, the Lemelson Center, and the Center for Children and Technology
(CCT). The website is meant to allow visitors to explore science, technology, and invention through the American textile industry and is composed of three different units.
The first unit is "Early Industrialization" and deals with the early industrialization of the textile industry. The second unit is "True Colors: Dyeing in the History of American
Textiles" and explores the technology and invention of dyes and dyeing in the context of international economics and politics. The third unit is "Synthetic Fibers" and tells
the story of the invention of nylon. Included among these records are teacher advisory group meeting materials, project files, budgetary materials, and curriculum evaluations.
Materials include correspondence, memoranda, meeting minutes, and other related materials.
