Video Title:
Bruises: The Data we Don't See | Nature–Design Triennial
Description:
This data visualization offers a holistic method for understanding the impact of a child’s illness. Musician Kaki King charted the clinical data of her daughter’s experience with the autoimmune disease idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, as well as observations of her own emotions during the terrifying 4 months after diagnosis. King and Giorgia Lupi transformed these data into a visualization that correlates the clinical and the emotional, accompanied by a “musical map.” On view in "Nature–Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial" through January 2020. This video is audio described to make it more accessible. Courtesy of Giorgia Lupi and Kaki King Giorgia Lupi (Italian, born 1981), Accurat (New York, New York, USA and Milan, Italy, founded 2011) and Kaki King (American, born 1979)
