The article is a tribute and biography of Jamaican artist Carl Abrahams. Abrahams was known as "one of the true pillars of twentieth-century Jamaican art." He was a self-taught draftsman, and in 1928 he was tutored by Cliff Tyrell as a commercial artist and cartoonist. His work appeared in the Jamaica Times and Wisco Magazine. In 1937 he began painting professionally. His work has been described as allegorical and surreal.
