Seated portrait of Mary Ann Goulding, her body turned to the right, her head turned to face the viewer. She is seated with her right arm resting on the arm of her chair and her right hand holding a pair of spectacles. She wears a black dress with wide sleeves adorned with white lace at the cuffs. On her head she wears a ruffled bonnet tied under her chin with a white ribbon.
