Summary:
A German or Dutch interior of a house with two young girls in the foreground, one seated on the dirt floor, one standing against a trunk nearby. The seated child eats from a bowl that she holds in her lap. The standing child holds a pan in her hands. They are joined by two chickens, one pecking at the ground, the other feeding from a bucket of grain. In the background there is a cupboard lined with plates. The door to the room is open, and in the next room the mother is seen seated in a chair.
