Summary:
A central abstract figure of St. John Baptist de La Salle rising and extending upwards. His cloak or mantle becomes a hollow, spiral staircase on which 12 groups of miniature figures represent the 6 stages of a Christian life. Figures include a young couple looking at each other; a married couple, expecting a baby; a priest, arms raised in blessing; a religious sister skipping with two children; young friends talking; parents and their children; two Brothers, one resting, the other praying. Among the individuals depicted on the sculpture are: Brother James Daniel Keller, FSC, Brother James Luke Hurley, FSC, Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint Thomas More, Jesus, Mary, Brother Lawrence Walther, FSC, Don Angelo, the parents of Brother Jerome Cox, FSC, Brother J. Robert Lane, FSC, Sister Helen Marie Feeney, William P. Skemp, Joseph J. Skemp, Robert C. Skemp, Thomas H. Skemp and his wife, Beulah. The welded sculpture is surrounded by lights for night time viewing.
