Summary:
In the center of the fountain is a bronze sculpture depicting a male figure rising out of a flame. His proper left arm extends straight up and he looks toward the sky. At his feet there is a globe adorned with zodiac signs. The figure represents the human spirit rising out of the flames of war, and other destructive elements of life, and reaching toward a new life. Surrounding the figure are four green granite sculptures which represent the four civilizations of the world, Nordic, Eastern, Southern, and Western. On the rim of the fountain are bronze plaques containing the names of over 5,000 who died in war.
