Summary:
Albert Besnard (1849-1934), his wife, Charlotte Dubray (1855-1931), and their child Robert (1881/82-1914) seated at a table. Mrs. Besnard, who wears a red dress, reaches across the table and cuts a piece of birthday cake, which is in front of her son. The candles on the cake are lit. Albert Besnard stands behind his wife near the table. His face is unfinished. A lit lamp is in the upper right corner and several dishes are on the table.
