National Air and Space Museum was housed in the Arts and Industries Building until 1975 when it moved to its own building which opened in 1976.
Summary:
Empty display cases in National Air and Space Museum (NASM) shop during renovation of building; Preparation of Apollo Lunar Module and 1909 Wright Military Flyer for removal from the North Hall; The large tile panel "Fire and Water" representing the rise and progress of the ceramic arts originally from the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876 can be seen in the background. It was installed in the building after the exhibits came from Philadelphia and was used again in the "1876: A Centennial Exhibition."
