Summary:
This accession consists of correspondence between Russell Lee, Curator, and historians, museum professionals, corporations, aviation consultants, government agencies, researchers, and the general public, primarily in regard to the history of Horten flying wing gliders that were built in Germany before and during World War II. A small amount of correspondence also documents Lee's effort to publish and promote his book "Only the Wing: Reimer Horten's Epic Quest to Stabilize and Control the All-Wing Aircraft." Earlier correspondence dates back to when the Aeronautics Department was known as the Aeronautics Division and the Department of Aeronautics, respectively. Materials include correspondence, notes, reports, articles, visitor comment forms, photographs, newsletters, clippings, and drawings. Some materials are in electronic format.
