February 4, 1974
Original film available in SIA Acc. 11-009.
Featured in "The Torch," March 1974: "The sculptures are duplicates of the originals by Moses Ezekiel that occupied the niches in the late 19th century when the Renwick served as the first Corcoran Gallery of Art. At the turn of the century, when the Corcoran was moved to its present quarters the original statues were sold and eventually ended up at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens where they can be seen today. Professor Renato Lucchetti, an Italian sculptor and stone carver who has been doing restoration work at the Smithsonian made the copies by casting the originals."
Placement of statue of Peter Paul Reubens on exterior second-floor niches of Renwick Gallery during restoration of the exterior. Casting by Professor Renato Lucchetti, sculptor.
