Summary:
The collection consists of Frederick Vernon Coville's field notes from botanical collecting and observation efforts between 1890 and 1924. Notes are contained in ten bound volumes as well as loose field notes, manuscripts, and correspondence. The collection includes: narrative journals and specimen lists from Coville's various botanical collecting endeavors throughout the United States including notes taken in Oregon, Death Valley, and other localities in California, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Maine, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Alaska, Arizona, Nebraska, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. Two notebooks also contain entries from various localities in Canada.
