Summary:
This accession consists of electronic records which document the work of the Media Development Department on the permanent exhibition, "Infinity of Nations: Art and History in the Collections of the National Museum of the American Indian," which opened on October 23, 2010. This exhibition at the National Museum of the American Indian, George Gustav Heye Center, contains some 700 works of Native art from throughout North, Central, and South America and demonstrates the breadth of the museum's renowned collection as well as highlights the historic importance of many of their iconic objects. This accession primarily consists of raw high definition digital video footage shot in the field at various locations including Chaco Canyon, New Mexico; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Chile; Michigan; Montana; the Northwest Coast of North America; and Peru. Also included are video interviews with Native Americans and Native American artists, anthopologists, and historians. Materials consist of audio and video files.
