Paul Brockett (1872-1946) was director of the Smithsonian Institution libraries, 1914-1925; he then became Assistant Secretary of National Academy of Sciences in charge of the buildings, a post (later called "Custodian of Buildings and Grounds") which he held from 1925-1945.
