Summary:
Consists of records documenting Renwick Gallery activities in regard to conservation, lectures, exhibitions, fundrasing, publications, meetings, special events, and interactions with dealers and professional art organizations. The records also document the establishment of the collections as well as the restoration of the Renwick building. Staff represented in the records include Lloyd E. Herman, Director, 1971-1986; Michael W. Monroe, Curator-in-Charge, 1986-1995; Kenneth R. Trapp, Curator-in-Charge, 1995-2003; Jane Milosch, Curator, 2004-2009; and Marguerite Hergesheimer, Museum Specialist. Records that predate the establishment of the Renwick Gallery were created by former directors of the National Collection of Fine Arts: David W. Scott, 1965-1969; Robert Tyler Davis (Acting Director), 1969; and Joshua Charles Taylor, 1970-1973. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; special events files; reports; meeting minutes; artists' surveys; photographs; exhibition proposals, checklists, catalogs, and labels; postcards; invitations; lecture papers; brochures; acquisition records; research materials; architectural drawings; floor plans; and newspaper clippings.
