The purpose of the project was to improve knowledge of tropical delta forest environments and determine the influence of human activities on those environments. The project was funded through a grant from the Army Research Office and ran from 1967 to 1971. Philip S. Humphrey, Chairman, Department of Vertebrate Zoology, National Museum of Natural History, was Principal Investigator.
