A picture deserving of careful study. A few Roman peasant women, in picturesque costumes, are passing forth from the entrance of an old church. The management of light and shade in this work is skilfully effected. Landelle was a pupil of Delaroche. He received the medal of the third class, 1842, the second class in 1845, the first class in 1848, and the Legion of Honor in 1855. [P. 3.]
