Bob Stocksdale believed a vessel must be both functional and beautiful. He did not allow the walls of his pieces to become too thin and never included cracks or blemishes. He explored a wide variety of colors and textures of wood, but his forms were always consistent, with only slight differences in height and shape.
Luce Object Quote:
"I do not turn bowls as thin as I could, for I try first to give the piece strength and durability and then thinness without fragility." Bob Stocksdale, American Craft, 1988
