Description:
This burgundy leather-covered identification document enabled T.E. Chase to travel on the designated rail line while on duty and when reporting for duty. The travel commission for 1900 issued to Railway Mail Service Clerk Chase was valid for the Minneapolis and Elizabeth route on the Chicago Great Western Railroad. The attached photograph of Chase is stamped “Railway Mail Service Office of [Superintendent] Jan. 1, 1900.”
