Description:
This object is part of the Education and Outreach collection, some of which are in the Q?rius science education center and available to see.
Notes:
Carved wooden tool used for block printing textiles in India. The handle is worn and smooth but roughly cut. The design is of a building facade, featuring a scalloped window and an ornate architectural detail of concentric oval shapes. The block is quite worn and dark all over. The carved design is chipped in many places, especially along the edge. Two stickers printed with "Made in India" are stuck to the handle.
