Identification by Leonid Lantsman, 2014: 19th C. Ottoman Turkish qama dagger. The grip is carved from a solid well aged piece of walrus tusk prominently displaying the secondary dentine mottled inner core of the tusk.The blade displays a complex cross section with a makers mark inlaid in gold in a hsort fuller running along the first fifth of the blade.The scabbard is chased and repoussed brass with animal designs likely from Eastern Anatolia or the Balkan region, Ottoman provincial work.
