From card: "Tribal provenience unknown; considerably less in height, also lighter than the two other skin tipi covers in the museum's collection. Decorated panels encircle bottom and the top sections; decorations consist of paintings of discs in red, each approximately 8" in diameter; a buffalo in black; also an animal resembling a wolf, also in black. Very dry condition; has one considerable tear; should be treated in anthrop. lab. 5/1964 Dr. [John C.] Ewers examined and said it definitely was Blackfeet. Loaned: U.S. Dept. of the Interior June 26, 1964, returned March, 1973." In 2002, the tipi cover was laid out flat for photography. Black and white photo negative numbers 2002-1756, 2002-1758, 2002-1760, and 2002-1762, when put together, show a complete view of tipi cover. 4 x 5 color transparency negative numbers 2002-1757, 2002-1759, 2002-1761, and 2002-1763, when put together, show equivalent complete color view of tipi cover.
Painted hide tipi cover, probably made of elk hides.
