FROM CARD: "MAN AND GOOSE; WOOD"
Description from Stejneger in accession file, which is somewhat smudged and hard to read, identifies E175599 - 175610 as "Carvings by Koriaks. Location somwhere south of Anadyr and north of Kamchatka. Presented to me by Mr. Constantine Greenwaldt, 49 Galernaia, St. Petersburg, Russia." "Koriaks" (a.k.a. Koryak) was mistranscribed on catalogue card as Koniaks.
Illus. Fig. 49, p. 59 in Chaussonnet, Valerie. 1995. Crossroads Alaska: native cultures of Alaska and Siberia. Washington, D.C.: Arctic Studies Center, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution. Identified there as a Koryak wooden toy depicting two men chasing a giant goose.
