Donor notes: [Purchased for] 50 Kina... Bilum (string bag) made of interlocking figure eight loops of store bought red, black, green and yellow nylon thread. Handle is half red and black, half yellow and green whereas the bilum itself is striped yellow, black, red and green with no apparent pattern.This bilum was made by Simom who is originally from Lilofa area of the Eastern Highlands. She didn't know her age (approximately 40) and has been in Goroka for two weeks.
