Description (Brief):
This is an early eighteenth century hand-held coin balance in a wooden box. It has a 5-inch iron beam, and 1.6-inch brass pans. The interior lid of the box has a paper label which lists the weights of gold and silver coins of various European countries. The box has recesses for a nested weight set and some fraction weights. The weights are missing.
Description:
Coin balance with 5-inch iron beam, index, and 1.6-inch brass pans. The paper label reads "TABLE des Monnaies d'or et d'argent qui ont cours dans les differens Etats / de l'Europe, avec la designation de leur poids."
