Description:
Print of a photograph of a blackface minstrel troupe at the Piketon Opera House in Piketon, Ohio. The photograph shows a group of costumed performers onstage in front of several backdrops painted to appear like a cave. Most of the performers are men, and are dressed in suits and wearing makeup. Several of the performers are in costume and blackface makeup, and some are holding instruments. A child in a tasseled dress is standing amongst stacked barrels painted with stars in the background. One man is wearing a hula skirt. The orchestra pit, in the foreground, has a piano or organ. Names of the performers are listed on the verso.
