Description:
Friedrich Bayer (1825–1880), a dye salesman, and Johann Friedrich Weskott (1821–1876), a master dyer, established "Friedr. Bayer et comp." in 1863, in what is now the German city of Wuppertal. Their initial objective was manufacturing and selling of synthetic dyestuffs. Aspirins came later.
