This set of three engravings was produced for the Magnetism article in volume 14 of the <i>Encyclopaedia Londinensis</i>, a multi-volume work published between 1810 and 1829. In one, the texts read “MAGNETISM” and “Plate 1” and “1. The Chinese Neptune. 2 to 10. Phaenomena of the Natural Magnet” and “Published by G. Jones, Ave Maria Lane, June 15th 1815.”
In another, the texts read “MAGNETISM” and “Plate 11” and “11, 12. Ross’s Machine for Separating iron filings. 13. Lampadius’s Magnetometer. 14 to 20. Fabrication of Artificial Magnets” and “J. Pass, sculp.” and “Published by G. Jones, Ave Maria Lane, June 15th 1815.”
In yet another, the texts read “MAGNETISM” AND “Plate 3” and “Magnetical Experiments” and “Published by G. Jones, Ave Maria Lane, June 15th 1815.”
