Physical Description:
Uncolored lithograph showing a caricature of an adventurer/scientist about to board a balloon, with an old man seeing him off. The adventurer is well armed and provisioned with a variety of items. He is shaking hands with the old man, who has a copy of "The Virtuoso" in his coat pocket. The balloon, labeled 'For The Upper Regions O." is in the background. The conversation between the men is printed below the scene. The old man is wishing the adventurer, Jimmy, a prosporous scientific voyage. Jimmy is promising a detailed account of the voyage when he returns.
"Jimmy" may be James Glaisher (7 April 1809 – 7 February 1903) pioneering British meteorologist.
