Physical Description:
This trophy has a round base with an elongated cup shape. There are two thin handles connected to and sitting close to the cup body. The handles connect at the lip of the cup opening with decorative scrolls that extend above the cup opening. The surface is a smooth metallic with engraved text on the front: First Annual Archery-Golf Tournament of the Palms Country Club Estate, Florida 1928 Fifth prize, Men's Tournament, Won by
Summary:
Glenn Hammond Curtiss came to be known as "The Father of Naval Aviation" and "Founder of the American Aircraft Industry". He was a remarkable engineer, beginning his career as a successful motorcycle manufacturer. Curtiss was a fierce competitor in all of his endeavors. This trophy is one awarded to Curtiss for winning the fifth prize at the First Annual Archery-Golf Tournament of the Palms Country Club Estate in Florida, 1928.
