Description:
A large hand built, round jug made of burnished red/brown earthenware, with a flat and uneven base. The high, round, cylindrical neck ends in a simple rim. A wide strap handle extends from the top of the rim to the shoulder. The top of the shoulder, around the base of the neck and strap handle are decorated with incised dashes.
Intact and in very good-excellent condition. The vessel sits unevenly. Scattered wear, abrasions, loss of surface and white slip/paint. Scattered "root-like" blanching/bleaching of the surface. Scattered brownish-black spots, probably manganese or iron from the soil.
