[2] Dr. George Scanlon visited Egypt beginning in 1950. He conducted archaeological excavations in Fustat between 1964 and 1980 through nine seasons. It is possible that he acquired the Fustat sherds during this time period. The card found with the collection states, “ex-collection of George Scanlon 1968, $125 acq'd in Cairo." It is unclear whether George Scanlon acquired these sherds in 1968 or whether the 1968 year refers to when Dorothy Shepherd Payer bought them.
