The field notes and drawings document William Holmes' field work at the Mayan ruins at Copan [Copán], Honduras, during 1916. Notes are recorded on loose sheets of paper, and contain notes that relate to numbered locations across the deserted settlement. Many of the notes are field drawings with extensive annotations relating to sculptures, specific structures, as well as sections of the settlement, and includes oblique and aerial views. There are also sketches of surrounding terrain. Many of the notes relate to the East Court.
