Abstract:
The photograph album documents the work of Alexander Wetmore during travel to Venezuela, August 31 - September 13, 1952. Photographs are numbered (4951 to 5040) and include captions describing location, date, and subject matter. Several images cover his time attending the Third Congress of International Union for the Protection of Nature in Caracas. Subject matter includes travel enroute, Colegio de Médicos in Caracas, meeting attendees, candid portraits of colleagues, sites across Caracas, and an event at the home of Dr. William H. Phelps. Also documents a visit to the Codazzi Park near Maracay, as well as terrain and bird habitat in the vicinity of Lake Valencia, Aragua; Barrancas, Monagas; and Caño Macareo.
