Abstract:
This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, 1964, on the C. H. Gilbert Cruise 77. The cruise took place in the Pacific Ocean near the Hawaiian Islands. Materials include bird observation data (At Sea Daily Log E), climatological data, and correspondence. At Sea Daily Log E includes date, time, species, #, dir., hgt., and remarks. Climatological data includes: time, lat, long, pres wea, vis, slp, dry b, dew pt, hum %, tl sky, opa sky, waves, sea temp, wind s, wind d, ship course/spd. A letter from Robert S. Standen to Mae Esterline at the Smithsonian Institution discusses field notes and includes a map showing course of the trip around Hawaiian Islands.
