Abstract:
The field catalog and notes document William Louis Abbott's field work in southeastern Borneo, 1907-1908. The field catalog covers 5565-5928, November 24, 1907 - April 9, 1908. The notebook includes handwritten and type materials. The catalog begins with an overview of travel details, destinations, weather, island terrain, and observations of wildlife and their behavior. Includes several pasted inserts. Includes hand drawn maps of Pulau Matasiri and Pulo Laut, and Klumpang Bay [Teluk Klumpang], with notes. The catalog lists collect number, US National Museum numbers (151829 - 152119), sex, type, and location date. Locations include Pulo Solombo Besar, island of Solombo, and Pulau Bawean, Indonesia.|The loose sheets cover observations of the Laurot Islands, 1907. The pages begin with a description of destinations, travel details, anchorages, description of island terrain, fauna observed (including birds), and contains a list of detailed descriptions for a variety of mammals of southeast Borneo. These entail abundance on the islands, observations of behavior, appearance, whether indigenous, and whether collected.
