Abstract:
The two field books document Alexander Wetmore's continued investigations into the nature and origin of duck mortality in Utah and Montana (1914-1915), while in the employ of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Bureau of Biological Survey. The first notebook observations of Corinne, Utah, July 8, 1914 - August 25, 1915. Entries are mostly birdlists of the area (using common names). Notebooks is chronological,and entries are headed with the date. Some entries discuss daily activities, including travel, individuals with whom he worked.|Second notebook covers Utah from August 26 - October 24, 1915. Entries come in several formats. Many are birdlists using common names, some are descriptions of individual birds (numbered) showing health problems, that are observed over the period of several days; others are science text citations including handwritten copies of the text.
