Abstract:
This field book contains field notes of collections Stelfox made from 3 May 1931 to 11 September 1932 in Ireland. Most specimens collected were insects, primarily hymenoptera. Other types of specimens may have been collected. Stelfox lists the name of the specimen, date collected, sex, quantity, sometimes remarks on the weather, location, sometimes specific type of environment, sometimes remarks about which specimens he would like to collect, sometimes additional information. Some specimens were collected by R. A. Phillips. Localities include, but are not limited to Lucan, Rathdrum, Glendun, Enniskerry (currently Áth na Sceire), Duncannon, and Bundoran. 'R.C.L.P' following a name signifies that specimen were seen and verified by D. R. C. L. Perkins, F.R.S. “List of specimens sent to S. Roman November 1931 [continued from vol. 3, p. 106]”, numbers 118-145, is also included, as well as miscellaneous inserts containing field notes. Correspondence about specimens from A. Roman to Stelfox is also included.
