Description:
Indigo-dyed textile composed of two widths of fabric. A field of white dashes on a blue ground, created by running stitch, and end borders of white rings on a blue ground, created through tied-resist. Substrate has a woven pattern of stripes of vegetal forms, with yellow and red satin-weave stripes on one of the two panels of cloth. This example was probably stitched back-to-back with a second piece, as the dye has not penetrated the back side of the fabric.
