Description:
Design for frame surrounding the portrait of Sir Francis Walsingham. Two escutcheons, the top one blank and intended for the portrait, surrounded by a mortar board, seal, book, and bird at lower left. At bottom, the frame contains a figural scene depicting the presentation of a portrait painting to a seated woman.
