Collected by Henry R. Voth (Heinrich Richert Voth, 1855-1931, a Mennonite missionary and ethnographer) for the Field Museum of Natural History (Chicago, Illinois) in 1899; purchased by Sir Henry S. Wellcome (ca. 1853-1936, son of a missionary based in Wisconsin, and pioneer of the use of airplanes in archaeological surveys) from the Field Museum in 1933; purchased by MAI from Sir Henry Wellcome's estate in 1947.
