Summary:
Scrapbook assembled by Bessie White which contains clippings regarding the centennial celebration of President George Washington's inauguration, as well as invitations and programs related to centennial celebrations. Clippings and printed materials related to Stanford White's portraits of Washington, and their inclusion at the <em>Loan Exhibition of Historical Portraits and Relics</em> at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York are also included. Extensive clippings relate to the temporary Washington Square Arch, erected in 1889 in celebration of the centennial. Clippings related to public demand for the arch to become permanent are present. A permanent arch was erected in 1892.
