Contains materials collected by Levin for the purpose of writing his many articles; festival, concert, CD, book and record reviews and his publication, Classic Jazz: A Personal View of the Music and the Musicians. The materials consist mainly of articles and newspaper clippings, as well as personal handwritten notes and e-mail correspondence with other jazz historians. Book manuscripts and lecture notes are also found within this series. While the materials mostly relate to jazz and jazz musicians, there are some miscellaneous articles on such diverse subjects as model trains, radio programming, and the Bosendorfer Piano. The materials are arranged in chronological order.
