Scope and Contents:
Aschwin Lippe's focus was medieval Indian sculpture and art. Background materials include temple plans and maps, the iconography of deities, and photographs of sculpture. Most of his research material consists of photographs, both his own [Subseries 5.2] and by others [Subseries 4.1]. Lippe documented his research on Indian sites in Field Journals that describe sites and sculpture [Subseries 4.3]. The series includes drafts and correspondence related to his major publication Indian Medieval Sculpture and his contribution to The Arts of India, "South Indian Architecture and Sculpture" [Subseries 4.2].
